Here for the First Time? Taking the First Step is the Biggest Act of Courage
The snowdrop are the first flowers that appear in winter, a prelude of what spring will be.
Perhaps you're here exploring therapy, wondering what it's all about. Maybe you've even scheduled your first appointment. If so, congratulations. You've already taken the biggest, and often the most difficult, step: recognizing you might need support and taking action to find it.
Hi, I'm Chiara Virgilio, and I'm a psychotherapist. I believe that everyone deserves support on their journey to well-being, and I'm passionate about helping people find healing and growth through therapy.
Starting psychotherapy is an act of courage. It can feel intimidating, even vulnerable. It means acknowledging that something isn't quite right, that you might need help navigating life's challenges. It's perfectly normal to feel apprehensive. You might be unsure what to expect, worried about sharing personal details, or simply unsure if therapy is the right fit. Therapy can provide a safe and supportive environment to process difficult emotions, understand your patterns, and create positive change in your life. But by taking this first step, you've demonstrated incredible strength. You've chosen to prioritize your well-being, to invest in yourself, and to explore the possibility of positive change. You've decided to no longer carry the burden alone.
That initial step – reaching out, scheduling an appointment, walking through the door for the first time – is often the hardest. It's a step into the unknown, a step towards vulnerability, and it can feel very scary. So, congratulations for even considering sharing your unique story and your pain. A warm welcome.
